1) Damo Vino Nobile di Montepulciano by Montemercurio (2 bottles)
Montemercurio’s “Damo” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is an homage to their grandfather “Nonno Damo” who in the mid 20th-century planted the first vines that were used in the production of this wine. “Damo” is Montemercurio’s leading wine and is produced with a careful eye for every last detail. This intensely garnet-coloured red wine boasts fragrances of ripe berries, dark, bold spices, liquorice, tobacco and truffle. It is full-bodied yet supported by a bold blend of tannins. In the mouth it reveals a certain freshness mixed and full-flavoured quality with a long, balanced persistence. “Damo” pairs especially well with dishes featuring game, fowl or red meats. We suggest you try it with a stew of ground horse meat, or other lean red meats.

2) Sotto Casa Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva by Boscarelli (2 bottles)
This is one of  the most highly rated Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wine (based on critic scores): the 2011 vintage was given a score of 94 by Falstaff Magazin. Brilliant, deep ruby red with garnet hues; complex, layered nose recalling blueberries and plums in youth, iris and violets after some time; all confirmed on the lush, full palate, which exudes elegance and fruity richness. “Soto Casa” pairs perfectly with grilled, roasted or braised red meats, game, and some matured cheeses.

3) Bossona Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva by Dei (2 bottles)
100% Prugnolo Gentile sourced entirely from vineyards in the Bossona Cru with a South/Southwest exposure. It is fullbodied, complex and elegant. Intense and refined fragrances, with plenty of ripe fruits and hints of violets. Fine silky tannins and a long and rich finish. This is the second most highly rated Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wine (based on critic scores): the 2011 vintage was given a score of 90 by Wine Spectator. Based on critic scores and price, this wine represents great value.

4) Parceto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano by Poggio alla Sala (2 bottles)
The colour is deep garnet; the perfume is intense, spicy and elegant; the flavour is dry, warm and rich with developed aromas. A perfect accompaniment for red meats, game and well-seasoned cheeses. Only a couple of critics have rated this Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wine so far (Critics' Score, Aggregated 87/100). This is among the highest-priced Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wine. The price has been rising over the last years. This producer makes a number of other wines including this one from Sangiovese in addition to those from the grape Rare Red Blend.

This Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wine has received good scores from various critics: the 2010 vintage was given a score of 90 by Wine Spectator. The wine has an intense and complex bouquet of fragrant notes of blackberry and blueberry notes, shades of damp earth and licorice. Its taste is  full, harmonious, concentrated, with fruity notes, pleasant tannins and a long finish, in which there are floral and aniseed nuances. “Quercetonda” is perfect for red meat and game, as well as moderately spicy cheese.

Several important critics have rated this Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wine highly: Gilbert & Gaillard gave the 2010 vintage a score of 94. The Decanter World Wine Awards awarded the 2007 vintage Commended. Bright red, still in its youth. Powerful nose of blackberry, juniper, talc, wilted violet and notes of chocolate and medicinal herbs. 8) Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva by Tenuta di Gracciano della Seta (2 bottles)
This Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wine has received good scores from various critics.  It has bright ruby red color. Its nose is  intense, complex, delicate, fruity with hints of cherry, morello, plum, violet and slightly spicy.  Its palate is dry, with pleasantly acid notes, well integrated tannins, sapid, balanced, intense, persistent, elegant, with a fruity finish. This wine pairs perfectly with  roasts, game and mature cheeses.

9) Vino Nobile di Montepulciano by Lunadoro (2 bottles)
Obtained from the vinification of Sangiovese, its ruby red colour evolves to a quite strong garnet colour. It has a complex and characteristic bouquet with a mature fruit aroma, notes of black pepper, prune jam, a floral note of violet, cigar and dark chocolate aromas. Well balanced on the palate and with sweet tannins that, combined with the correct acidity, create a long lasting finish. This wine is perfectly suited for traditional recipes of Tuscany, especially red and braised meat, soups like “pappa col pomodoro” and mushroom dishes. Indicative blend: 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot.  The porcupine is a shy and feared animal but La Spinosa, on the contrary, shows itself with an  elegant dress, absolutely pleasant . In front of us we have a ruby red wine dancing with grace in the goblet. The nose perceives clear scents of black cherries and shrubs that later leave the floor to enchanting coffee and white pepper notes. This wine has been becoming increasingly popular over the past year. A bright, ruby color introduces an intense aroma that plays on notes of dark fruit, blackberry and black cherry, a pleasing vein of warm spice that never dominates and a hint of coffee. The mouthfeel is diversified and tasty with young and lively tannins nicely reined in by the wine’s texture. The finish is flavorful and broad.
